Naturaleza Muerta

Release Date July 12, 2019

The year is 2019,  and the essence of CAF is as radical as any period in their band’s history, and their newest release ‘Naturaleza Muerta’ is the proof of this, including tracks like “Disparan (Fill the Skies)”, their groundbreaking collaboration with Chino Moreno from The Deftones, or “Días Oscuros”, featuring the acclaimed and popular Chilean singer Camila Moreno. This album, recorded and mixed in Estudios CHT in Ñuñoa, Santiago by Bill Gould and mastered by legendary Chilean engineer Chalo Gonzalez– practically glows from the curiosity and intensity of the band, with a group of songs and interludes which invoke influences from African percussion, indigenous South American ideologies, free jazz and within subtle atmospheres of post rock and trip hop.

“We included drums and other percussion elements in the CAF universe, full of irregular metrics. When we made friends with Chino Moreno, we decided that this record would have at least one collaboration in each track. In “Ha Vuelto a Pasar” we feature the percussion improvisation group Avalancha, while also pairing them with harpsichord; to complete we included a poem and narration from the Mapuche poet Mapurbe. In “Días Oscuros” there is Camila Moreno, along Raimundo Santander, who plays the “Chilean guitarrón”. In “Busca la Paz” Gallardo contributes an arrangement for violin and cello”, Metraca remarks. All of this delivered through lyrics that hit with the impact of a bullet, a grim testimonial to the conflictive and often abusive relationship between man and nature.
